Railway Cuttings is situated in the Armstrong’s Mill shopping complex on the outskirts of Ilkeston, located approximately 1 mile north-east of Ilkeston marketplace.

Ilkeston is a Derbyshire market-town that lies between Nottingham and Derby, and a short drive from junction 26 of the M1. Railway Cuttings is not that far from Eastwood, the birthplace of controversial English novelist and playwright, D H Lawrence.

From Ilkeston south

(Addison House roundabout – A609 / A6007 / A6096)
Take the A6007; Challons Way) until the next roundabout junction (A6007 / Station Road), and turn right into Station Road (sign-posted Awsworth and Cossall). Armstrong’s Mill is approximately 1200 meters on the right – see signs just before the ramp to the railway bridge. Via right into Station Street passing by the Dewdrop Inn on the corner and turn right.  Armstrong’s Mill is the red-brick building on the left in front of you. The car-park entrance is on the left.

From Ilkeston north (Shipley Common)

Head towards Ilkeston, down the hill along Heanor Road (A6007, and continue until the A6096 roundabout junction. Go straight over the junction, and at the next roundabout, turn left into Station Road. Armstrong’s Mill is approximately 1200 meters on the right – see signs just before the ramp to the railway bridge.

Via right into Station Street passing by the Dewdrop Inn on the corner and turn right. Armstrong’s Mill is the red-brick building on the left in front of you.  The car-park entrance is on the left.

From Nottingham (A609)

Head out of the city along the A610, following signs for the M1, junction 26, Nuthall. Go under the M! Bridger and continue heading along the A610 following signs towards Ilkeston (and the Ikea Retail Park) heading away from Nottingham. Leave at the first exit, sign-posted A6096 to Ilkeston, and follow the A6096 until the second roundabout. Here take the second exit (Coronation Road – not the third exit which is the continuation of the A6096), which leads up and over a narrow metal-sided railway bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn sharp left into Station Street, passing by the Dewdrop Inn on the corner and turn right.  Armstrong’s Mill is the red-brick building on the left in front of you. The car-park entrance is on the left.

From Langley Mill (Ikea Retail Park)

Take the A610 eastbound to Nottingham, and take the first major exit, sign-posted A6096 (Gin Close Way) to Ilkeston. At the second roundabout, take the second exit (the A6096 continues via is the third exit). Here take the second exit (Coronation Road – not the third exit which is the continuation of the A6096), which leads up and over a narrow metal-sided railway bridge. After crossing the bridge, turn sharp left into Station Street, passing by the Dewdrop Inn on the corner and turn right. Armstrong’s Mill is the red-brick building on the left in front of you. From the M1 (junction 26)

After leaving the motorway, head along the A610 following signs towards Ilkeston (and the Ikea Retail Park) heading away from Nottingham. Leave at the first exit, sign-posted A6096 to Ilkeston, and follow the A6096 until the second roundabout.  Here take the second exit (Coronation Road) which leads up and over a narrow metal-sided railway bridge. From Heanor (A6007)

Take the A6007 south-east out of Heanor and continue until the A6096 roundabout junction. Go straight over the junction, and at the next roundabout, turn left into Station Road. Via right into Station Street passing by the Dewdrop Inn on the corner and turn right. Armstrong’s Mill is the red-brick building on the left in front of you. The car-park entrance is on the left.
